Presentations…
No powder, no life! Thursday, 26th June 2008
This presentation demonstrated how our lives are inextricably linked to powdered materials. From instant coffee to complex pharmaceutical, building aggregates to washing powder. Most items on the supermarket shelves even fall into this category.
Alan discussed the concept of what are known as bulk solids, referred to by those in the business as the fourth state of matter. Why they don’t behave as one would expect and the problems and dangers in handling them.
During the talk Alan showed videos of the explosive nature of simple products like instant coffee and custard powder.
