Carbon8: using carbon dioxide as a resource to treat soil and waste

Paula’s talk was about the novel treatment of soil and waste using carbon dioxide to produce materials for reuse or less costly disposal.  The treatment uses an innovative, patented solution: Accelerated Carbonation Technology (ACT).

Biography…

 

Dr Paula Carey from Carbon8 Systems Ltd

Paula is a Director of Carbon8 Systems Ltd and a Principal Lecturer in the School of Science at the University of Greenwich.

Paula is a Geologist by training and has 25 years as an academic.  She has undertaken research and development of stabilisation/solidification as a treatment of industrial wastes and contaminated soils, as well as the durability of natural engineering materials.

Paula is also co-director of the Centre for Contaminated Land Remediation at the University of Greenwich.

Carbon8 Systems is a spin-out from the University of Greenwich formed in February 2006, to market a novel technology for the treatment of industrial wastes and soils. The company won the Kent Innovation Challenge in May 2007 and is also the Kent Environment Business of the Year 2006.
